In the process of water circulation between the silver and copper electrode plates, a weak pulsed current of a special shape and frequency, which is safe for humans, is supplied to them. The flowing current dissolves the anodes and metal is released in the ionic form of Ag+ and Cu++.

Since bacteria are always negatively charged, while copper (Cu++) and silver (Ag+) ions are positively charged, electrostatic bonds form between them. Silver and copper ions, being adsorbed by viral envelope proteins, block their division and nutrition. The vital activity of microbial cells decreases, which leads to their death.

Partially, ions form sparingly soluble complex compounds with salts, chlorides, and sulfides. Lingering and saturating the quartz sand of the filter, they form an additional disinfection barrier.

The main part of the ions saturates the water and actively fights bacteria and viruses in the swimming pool. At an ion concentration level of 0.5–0.7 mg/l (even when the ionizer is turned off), copper and silver ions continue to disinfect water for several weeks.

Due to the negative electrical potential of the particles of pollution and the formation of copper hydrate compounds, the particles stick to each other, forming flakes. As a result of this coagulation process, the contaminant particles increase in size and settle in the filter. Therefore, additional introduction of coagulants into the pool water is not required.

In addition, copper ions are the best means to combat blue-green and brown algae, which completely eliminates the use of algaecides.

Conservatively inclined people will argue that chlorination is a reliable method of disinfection. We agree with this opinion, but with a caveat. It was reliable in the last century and was considered almost a 100% security guarantee until scientists proved the existence of a “downside”. A serious danger to human health is the by-products of disinfection with chlorine-containing agents.

Reliable disinfection of pool water must be combined with safety and comfort, without causing discomfort to visitors.

All troubles occur due to the properties of the chlorine molecule, as well as the consequences of its reaction with organic matter. The fact is that as a result of the dissolution of chlorine in water, hypochlorous acid is formed, which reacts. This reaction is called a "substitution reaction", in other words, a chlorine molecule is attached to an organic molecule, thereby forming a new compound with different properties. This is how chloramines, chloroform, trihalomethanes, haloacetic acids, mutagen X, carbon tetrachloride and many other dangerous formations are formed, which are not visible and even imperceptible, but have a very destructive effect on the internal systems and organs of the body, especially the developing body of children.

THREE most dangerous compounds that occur in the pool.

Chloramines - are compounds of chlorine and ammonia. Ammonia enters the pool water along with bathers, is found in sweat, skin epithelium, sweat gland secretions, urine and other secretions. We are mistaken when we say that water smells like chlorine. Chlorine dissolved in low concentration is odorless. The presence of a characteristic odor indicates the presence of chloramine.

It evaporates from the surface and is a source of unpleasant odor, irritation of the mucous membranes of the eyes, respiratory organs and skin. But this, they say, is still half the trouble.

Chloroform - is the main problem. This most dangerous organochlorine compound is formed in the pool water as a result of reactions of various organic compounds and metabolic products of biofilm and algae. Chloroform is a very toxic substance, its maximum allowable concentration (MAC) in the pool is 0.1 mg/l. Exceeding this concentration cannot be determined by taste, smell or color.

Mutagen X - is an even more dangerous by-product of disinfection. To designate such toxic compounds, a special term has been adopted - MX, or "mutagen X". "X" means a very large variety of its species. Scientists have proven that mutagen "X" provokes various serious diseases: cancer, changes in thyroid function, suppression of the immune and hormonal systems. Scientists from various countries have confirmed the research of Japanese scientists, which proved that the mutagen "X" is 170 times more dangerous than other known disinfection by-products.

Water contaminated with organochlorine formations provokes a large number of human diseases, including pneumonia, gastritis, diseases of the liver, bladder, rectum, heart and oncological diseases. Whether willing or not, a person can swallow water contaminated with organochlorine, which is already dangerous. In addition, these compounds penetrate our skin in large quantities during swimming, since the area of contact with water is maximum and the amount of toxic substances entering the body through the skin can be very critical.

The next negative factor is the low disinfecting ability of chlorine. Yes, it's low. Because those concentrations that are used to disinfect the pool are ineffective.

In addition, many microorganisms have long acquired resistance to chlorine-type disinfectants. The conditions for their reproduction in the pool are ideal - warm, humid, new swimmers constantly appear. There are already strains of pathogenic bacteria that begin to multiply in water almost immediately after chlorine treatment.

Chlorine-containing preparations are absolutely useless in the fight against fungi, hepatitis B virus, legionella, cryptosporodium, giardia, protozoa and many others.
